The glitzy glamorous emirate of Dubai is famed for its countless colourful annual events and festivals. Here is a sampling of just a handful of the most outstanding events from the festivals calendar of Dubai.
Dubai Shopping Festival and Dubai Summer Surprises
Dubai, the ‘land of merchants’, is well known for these two shopping festivals. This year round, the Dubai Shopping Festival 2011 or rather the DSF 2011 will be held from 20th January to 20th February. There will be a world of irresistible bargains on thousands of goods, ranging from cars and electronic gadgets to clothes and handicrafts. However, it maybe a bit late to find good Dubai flight deals at this stage. Those who miss the festival can always look forward to the Dubai Summer Surprises, which will be held from June to July. The Dubai Summer Surprises is probably only second to DSF in terms of shopping and offers scores of other family oriented events encompassing numerous things to do and see. With the festival still being about a 6 good months away, one stands fair chances of landing lucrative travel deals to Dubai.
Taste of Dubai
Those who love good food and plan to visit the destination should book their cheap airlines to Dubai with the month of March in mind. This open air food and drink festival sees cutthroat competition between some of the most popular restaurants in the city in dishing out the best of cuisines.
Dubai World Cup
The Dubai World Cup is amongst the hottest UAE events. With a worth of some US$25.26 million, it is richest horse racing event of Dubai. Quite naturally, some of the most celebrated horses and jockeys are part of the event. Dubai
World Cup is slated for the month of March and the venue is none other than the Meydan Racecourse.
